The LSESU Business and Finance Group is the largest and most active careers society in the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). With an active membership base of over 3000, we are sponsored by a huge number of industry giants, offering LSE students unparalleled exposure to a diverse variety of careers events and opportunities – in areas such as Investment Banking, Financial Services and Markets, Consultancy and Professional Services, Alternative Investments, Entrepreneurship and Industry, and Commercial Law.
We hold in excess of 150 events every year, aiming to equip our members with the transferrable skills, knowledge and networking opportunities to help them succeed in the area of business that interests them most. We organise an array of exciting year-round events including: lecture series, corporate presentations, panel discussions, finance seminars, CV and skills workshops, mock interviews, trading simulations, case studies, conferences, exclusive networking events and informal socials. Major global institutions sponsor the Business and Finance Group, allowing us to deliver high-quality events and exclusive career information to our members.
In addition to career-oriented events, we produce a termly financial publication, called ‘The Analyst’, and provide a forum for balanced discussions and dialogue about topical financial and economic issues. Such issues include but are not limited to public finance, the hedge fund industry, the private equity industry, financial laws, environmental finance and microfinance.
In 2015/16, the Business and Finance Group will embark upon an innovative expansion plan. Exciting new initiatives will include our revolutionary online intranet (currently in development), which will give students access to a wealth of resources, information and advice that they will not find elsewhere; the first-ever Alumni Mentorship Programme with LSE-graduates in bulge-bracket firms; a financial skills-training course open to all members; strategic partnerships that offer free numerical, interview and CV training to LSE students; overseas trips, the LSE Finance Conference and keynote speaker events throughout the year. With the resources at our disposal, we aim to make our membership more valuable than ever.
